Zhangjiajie Airport Hits Milestone of 400,000 Inbound, Outbound Passenger Trips

The Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport reached a remarkable milestone for annual inbound and outbound passenger trips on October 8, 2024. As of that day, the number of inbound and outbound passenger trips via the airport this year hit 400,000, increasing by 200% over the same period of last year, and 71.61% higher than the peak in 2019.

Zhangjiajie's inbound tourism market has continued to recover following the resumption of international flight services after the epidemic. Increasingly frequent inbound and outbound flights are being operated on an expanded international air route network. At present, the Zhangjiajie airport operates passenger flights to 13 destinations in such countries and regions as South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong SAR, with more than 80 flights handled every week on average. During the just-concluded National Day holiday between October 1 and 7, the airport has handled 108 international flights and 14,900 international passenger trips which rose 115% year on year and up 151% over that in 2019.
