The third International Summit on BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) Applications will be held in Zhuzhou on October 24 and 25. A press conference was held in Changsha on October 11, announcing the preparatory work for the summit.

The theme of the summit is "Sharing BDS with the World". The China Satellite Navigation Conference, one of three major international satellite navigation conferences, will take place simultaneously.

The summit will feature 13 special events divided into five parts, including an opening ceremony and lecture by specially invited speakers, six keynote forums, five academic symposiums, and a scenario demonstration. A 2,000-sqm outdoor exhibition area will be set up, showcasing the BDS application scenarios of intelligent transportation system, general aviation, construction machinery, smart logistics, and smart city construction.

A number of authorities on the BDS industry, both domestically and internationally, will attend the summit, including academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, renowned experts, and representatives from universities and leading enterprises. They will introduce the up-to-date policies, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative techniques related to BDS applications.

A Joint Initiative by Academicians on BDS Applications will be released, and a spatio-temporal information operation and service platform will be publicized at the summit.

A BDS application demonstration will open to the public after the summit, allowing ordinary people to experience changes brought about by the BDS applications.

Based on the advantages of the source of BDS core technologies, Hunan leads the country with a number of advanced manufacturing and emerging sectors such as BDS application sector. Hunan has participated in the construction of BDS-1, BDS-2 and BDS-3 systems, possessing more than 80% of the BDS core technology resources.

In 2023, Hunan's total output value of BDS industry reached 45 billion yuan, increasing by 18.4% year on year. There are 515 enterprises in the BDS Industrial Park, more than 50 related enterprises over designated size, and 60 innovation platforms at the national and provincial levels. A whole industrial chain containing upstream, midstream, and downstream industries of satellite platform and payload, and BDS positioning chips, has taken shape.
