The 2024 Hengyang Marathon is set to take place on December 8, with a planned registration cap of 16,000 participants. Registration opened on October 13.

The 2024 Hengyang Marathon is authorized by the Chinese Athletics Association (CAA), and co-hosted by the Hunan Sports Bureau and the Hengyang Municipal People's Government. It has been upgraded as an A1-class marathon event. It will feature three categories—the full marathon with 3,000 runners, a half-marathon with 8,000 runners, and a 6-km fun run with 5,000 participants. The main venue will be set up at the Sports Center of Hengyang City, only 5.5 km away from the Hengyang Eastern High-speed Railway Station.

The racing route will connect five administration districts of Hengyang City, featuring recommended sightseeing spots from the 3rd Hunan Tourism Development Conference. It is expected to enhance the cultural tourism appeal of this ancient city. The route will pass through a number of landmark spots, including the Hengyang Normal University, Linhu Park, Hengyang Railway Station, Xiangjiang River Bridge, "City of Wild Geese" Sky Wheel, Chuanshan Park, Pinghu Park, Xihu Park, and Shigu Academy.

Registration will be confirmed upon successful payment, on a 'first come, first served' basis. Withdrawals from the event will not be permitted, and the registration fees will be non-refundable. Registered runners who fail to participate in the event may follow the WeChat public account of the marathon to get mailing information for marathon packages.
