Hunan Joins China-CEEC Association of Provincial Governors

The sixth China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) Local Leaders' Meeting commenced in Yantai, Shandong Province, on October 16, 2024. Hunan Province joined the China-CEEC Association of Provincial Governors as a new association member.

The cooperation mechanism between China and the CEEC was established in 2012. The first China-CEEC Local Leaders' Meeting was inaugurated in Chongqing Municipality, China, in 2013, aiming to further strengthen friendly communications and practical cooperation between local governments in China and central and eastern European countries. In 2014, the China-CEEC Association of Provincial Governors was founded during the second China-CEEC Local Leaders' Meeting which was held in the Czech Republic. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the association.

Along with the progress of China's opening-up, Hunan has conducted increasing exchanges and cooperation with central and eastern European countries in such fields as economics, trade, education, and culture. Between January and August of this year, Hunan's import and export value with central and eastern European countries amounted to 7.4 billion CNY, a year-on-year growth of 5.2%. The import value from these countries hit 2.1 billion CNY, surging 166.9% over last year.

Joining the China-CEEC Association of Provincial Governors will provide new opportunities for Hunan Province to expand cooperation with central and eastern European countries.
