November 20, 2024 marks World Children's Day, and the 2024 theme for the day is "Listen to the Future." On November 16, the Changsha Municipal Women's Federation, along with relevant departments and organizations, held a launch ceremony for the 2024 World Children's Day Event in Changsha. UNICEF Representative to China Amakobe Sande extended festive greetings to children across Changsha via a video link. Yang Changjiang, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Changsha Municipal People's Congress, and Liu Zhihong, vice chairman of the CPPCC Changsha Municipal Committee, attended.

During the launch ceremony, certificates were awarded to representatives of outstanding child observers. A promotional video on Changsha's child-friendly city construction and the city's child-friendly activities was released.

After the launch ceremony, medical workers from the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, the First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, and Changsha Aier Eye Hospital offered free health diagnosis services to children on the first floor of the Changsha Municipal Women's Federation.

Apart from main venue events held by the Changsha Municipal Women's Federation, Changsha will also light up outdoor large screens on major streets with blue lights and slogans symbolizing child friendliness, sending festive greetings and good wishes to children around the world. This is the 8th consecutive year that Changsha has responded to the "Lighting up for Children" initiative launched by UNICEF.

In addition, the Changsha Municipal Education Bureau will organize a meeting to share experience on child-friendly school construction at the Yangtianhu Guihuaping Primary School in Tianxin District. The Changsha Municipal Women's Federation will carry out hand-painting and creative lighting activities at the Changsha Children's Welfare Home. A seminar centering on urban and rural co-construction of child-friendly communities and child-friendly aesthetic education experience activities will be held in Bairuopu Town, Hunan Xiangjiang New Area.
