The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced the evaluation results of 178 national high-tech zones in 2024. The list of top 50 national high-tech zones for comprehensive strength was released, along with the lists of top 20 ones in terms of total industrial output value, operating income of high-tech industries, investment in enterprises' research and development, per capita technology contract turnover, number of excellent enterprises, and business environment. Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Zhuzhou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and Xiangtan National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Hunan Province were shortlisted. 

Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone boasts a relative strong comprehensive strength, which helps it earn a spot in the five said lists. The zone ranked 19th for comprehensive evaluation, ranked 12th for investment in enterprises' research and development, ranked 6th for per capita technology contract turnover, ranked 11th for the number of excellent enterprises, and ranked 14th for business environment. Zhuzhou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone ranked 35th nationwide for comprehensive strength, and ranked 12th nationwide for per capita technology contract turnover. Xiangtan National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone ranked 3rd nationwide for per capita technology contract turnover.

The shortlisted zones have distinctive features and their successful experiences are worth being replicated. Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone has accelerated the gathering of innovation resources. It is home to five national key laboratories and eight national engineering research centers. The zone has also made industrial layout in the province's "Four Major Laboratories" and "Four Major Scientific Facilities," aiming to inject new impetus into industrial development.

Zhuzhou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone focuses on the commercialization of sci-tech research findings and vigorously establishes an innovation consortium for industries, in order to enable more research results to empower superior industries including rail transit equipment, medium and small aircraft engines, and hard alloy.

Xiangtan National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone has taken strong steps to increase research input, improve public research platforms, and reduce enterprises' research cost, attracting more enterprises to invest in the zone.
