Are you aware that one out of every nine bowls of rice in China comes from Hunan? Academician Yuan Longping developed hybrid rice in Hunan, turning Hunan rice into a national focus. In the past decade, Hunan has ranked first in the country in terms of rice area, with only 3.2% of China’s arable land amazingly producing about 4.5% of the country’s staple. Hunan rice, grain by grain, has been transformed into a variety of delicacies -- sugar-oil cakes, sister rice balls, rice crust, and even coffee. Hunan rice, more than just a kind of food, embodies an ideal envisioning a world without hunger, hence a vehicle for pursuing better life.

你知道吗？中国每9碗大米就有1碗来自湖南。袁隆平院士在湖南钻研出了杂交水稻，让湖南大米变成了全国的美食明星。近10年，湖南水稻面积排全国第一，用仅仅3.2%的农田，种出了近4.5%的粮食。一粒粒湖南大米化身为各式美食——糖油粑粑、姊妹团子、锅巴、甚至包括咖啡。湖南大米不仅是一种粮食，它更承载着“愿天下人都有饱饭吃”的理想，承载着我们对生活的情怀。
