Huaihua's total foreign trade value hit 13.76 billion CNY in 2024, marking a year-on-year increase of 32.9%, which topped Hunan Province for three consecutive years. Among them, exports reached 12.39 billion CNY, exceeding 10 billion CNY for the first time.

Huaihua City has made efforts to build itself into an "international hub of bags and luggage", establishing a sound industrial chain for the import and export of bags and leather goods. More than 100 enterprises have joined this chain. Last year, Huiahua exported 380 million CNY in luggage products, growing 63.1%, and this growth also drove over 30 million CNY in exports of zipper, trolley, plastic, and other intermediate products.

Relying on the Huaihua International Land Port, the city has constantly expanded its "circle of friends". In 2024, Huaihua extended economic and trade exchanges with 177 countries and regions. Among them, the total import and export value with Hong Kong and ASEAN countries increased by 90.9% and 28.9% respectively, while those to the "Belt and Road" countries and the RCEP members saw year-on-year growths of 41% and 23.3% respectively.

The Huaihua Customs Authority will continue to launch preferential policy campaigns, steadily promoting "railway express", "direct loading and unloading", and other facilitated customs clearance modes, as well as preferential policies such as RCEP preference certificate of origin. It will keep implementing measures to expand the export of agricultural products by "guiding the filing of a batch of agricultural products, testing them free of charge, and promoting their export". The customs will also strengthen customs clearance cooperation with other customs authorities along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, to assist enterprises in fulfilling orders and expanding market, boosting high-level opening up and high-quality development of the city.
