Recently, Changsha released the fifth phase of test roads for intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs), which stretches 732.55 kilometers, bringing the total mileage of such roads to 1107.1 kilometers (one-way mileage) and ranking at the national forefront. In particular, the cumulative mileage of urban roads and expressways for ICV testing hits 1,051 kilometers and 56.1 kilometers, respectively.
The newly-announced test roads are distributed in the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area core area, the Changsha Railway Station, Changsha South Railway Station, Changsha Huanghua International Airport ("two stations and one airport" for short), Malanshan area, and Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone area.
All roads in the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area core area are open for ICV testing. Including the "two stations and one airport" in test sites will greatly enrich test scenarios and facilitate public travel with the power of scientific and technological innovation. The roads in Malanshan and Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone areas, which are key application areas for Changsha to pilot "vehicle-road-cloud integration" scenarios, will focus on creating unmanned pick-up vehicles, self-driving buses, unmanned delivery, and other characteristic scenarios.
