The Changsha authority recently released a list of key construction projects in 2025. As planned, the construction of five new stations along the Changsha Maglev Line will start within this year, which will greatly facilitate travel for residents upon operation.

The Changsha Maglev Line started operation in 2016, with a total length of 18.55 kilometers. There are three stations along the line—Changshanan Station, Langli Station, and Huanghua Airport Station. It is a comprehensive transportation hub demonstration project of Changsha City for air-rail intermodal transport.

As a crucial part of the Changsha airport expansion project, the Changsha Maglev Line east extension has started construction since 2021, with a planned length of 4.454 kilometers. Upon completion, it will provide a direct access from the Changsha South Railway Station to the airport's T3 terminal.

The five new maglev stations are provisionally named Guozhan Road, Gaotangping Road, Dongsi Road, Dongsheng Road, and Longfeng Avenue stations. Among them, the first three stations are located in the Changsha International Convention and Exhibition New Town. An array of real estate projects, primary and middle schools, and an over-133-hectare ecological landscape area of the Liuyang River Scenic Belt are planned or under construction along the line.

These new stations are expected to further enhance the new town's air-rail integration advantages, giving an impetus to the upgrading and development of this area.

The Changsha-Liuyang Maglev Express Line has started construction since November 2024. With a planned length of more than 70 kilometers, it will connect the Changsha South Railway Station, Huanghua International Airport, and downtown area of Liuyang City.

A bus-type flexible operation mode will be implemented for the line, aiming to ensure rapid transit between key stations while also providing access to the commuter stations along the route. Under the mode, it will take 25 minutes from Liuyang's downtown area to the Changsha Huanghua International Airport, and 43 minutes to the Changsha South Railway Station.
