Hunan Gourmet Week Held in Beijing

A gourmet week dedicated to Hunan's featured products recently kicked off in Beijing. The event aimed to promote the culture of Hunan cuisine and showcase the splendor of Changsha through an offline fair and tasting activities. The gourmet week will last till February 28.

A variety of specialty brands with Hunan characteristics displayed their products at the offline fair, including Huogongdian Restaurant, Ma Fu Sheng, Chayan Yuese, and Hey Hey Black. More than 100 food categories were presented, including Changsha snacks, tea-based beverages, and cakes and pastries. These products fully showcased the unique charm and cultural heritage of Hunan food and attracted many customers to take photos and sample the delicacies.

At a food tasting area, more than 10 Hunan cuisine chefs prepared over 20 Hunan dishes on site with perfect combination of color, aroma and taste. Signature dishes including stir-fried pork with chili peppers, steamed fish head with chopped chili, and Chairman Mao's red-braised pork, and new dishes complemented each other, receiving recognition from participants. A total of 1,200 servings of Changsha stinky tofu, meticulously prepared by the chefs, were snapped up in the blink of an eye.

In recent years, the Liaison Office of Changsha Municipal People's Government in Beijing has actively responded to the strategies of "Hunan products going global" and "Hunan products entering Beijing." The office has taken the initiative to promote Hunan cuisine and products to government agencies and state-owned enterprises. More than ten tasting events and exhibitions featuring Hunan cuisine and products have been organized, serving as a booster for Changsha's investment attraction and talent introduction efforts in Beijing, according to Xiao Jinping, director of the Liaison Office.

Director Xiao said that the purpose of these activities is to take Hunan products and cuisine as a medium to further publicize and promote Changsha. Through on-site displays, tasting activities, and cooking demonstrations via livestreaming, the unique charm and cultural heritage of Hunan cuisine are fully showcased, boosting Changsha's appeal for investment.
