A see-off ceremony for the 26th and 22nd groups of the Hunan medical aid team dispatched to the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Republic of Zimbabwe was held in Changsha on February 25, 2025. Hunan Vice Governor Jiang Difei attended and addressed the ceremony.

There are 34 members in the medical aid groups, including 23 assigned to Sierra Leone and 11 to Zimbabwe. The average age of the team members is about 40 years old. Among them, ten hold doctoral degrees, while 14 hold master's degrees. They specialize in 18 disciplines, including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, emergency medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine. Twenty-five of them hold the title of associate professor or higher.

Vice Governor Jiang noted that over the past 62 years, Hunan's foreign aid medical team members have benefited the local people with their medical proficiency and medical ethics, which have been highly affirmed and widely acclaimed both at home and abroad. The international medical assistance has taken on new connotations with higher demands in the new era. He emphasized the need to continue progressing and to promote the high-quality development of Hunan's foreign aid medical initiatives.

He encouraged the medical personnel to: - Further enhance political awareness, focus on the overall situation, serve the national strategy, highlight the leadership of Party building, and strive to write a new chapter of Hunan's international medical assistance; - Give full play to Hunan's advantages and distinctive characteristics to actively build the China (Hunan) Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe Joint Medical Center. Engage in the establishment of the China-Africa Hospital Alliance and participate in such projects as the in-depth implementation of the cooperation mechanism between counterpart hospitals, maternal and children's health program, and the training of traditional Chinese medicine personnel; and, - Show care and concern by implementing preferential policies. Strengthen support for members of foreign aid medical teams, including providing protection in their work, ensuring quality of life, and offering spiritual incentives.
